June 7: Contra with The Gadabouts and Stan Prince

The Gadabouts

The Gadabouts are dropping in for an evening of "percussive, foot-tappin', yes ma'am, shake your booty good time" Contra Dancing! Get your fix of old time music gone amok interspersed with zesty and beautiful cajun waltzes.

Calling for the Gadabouts is Stan Prince, who believes that dancers wish to hear only music once they’ve learned the dance. Next week, Stan hosts the June Bug Bash in Tampa featuring the New England band Party of Three.

The Gadabouts are: David Massey - piano, fiddle, vocals, John McEwen - percussion, bass, tenor guitar, Marietta Massey - banjo, percussion, Bill Paine - guitar, tenor guitar, mandolin, Kathie Aagard - fiddle.

Dancers 25 and under pay only $5 admission, $10 otherwise. Contra is 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. New dancers, and those wishing to review their dance moves or help others to do so, please attend the free lessons 30 minutes before the contra. Also included is social waltz 2:45-3:30 pm. No partner or experience is necessary.

Dance at the Thelma Boltin Center, 516 NE 2nd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601. Snacks at the break are a community affair. If you snack, bring one to share and a water bottle to help our planet. Childcare is provided. See our website FAQ for details http://godsdance.org/?q=node/8 Parking is in the lot across the street and in marked spaces on adjacent streets.
