April 18: Smoky Hollow String Band and Vicki Morrison

Smoky Hollow String Band

The mountains, hollers and flatlands bring you hard drivin', no holds barred traditional music. The music that stokes and drives The Smoky Hollow String Band - with dance tunes to add a little extra spring to your step. From Tallahassee, last we heard.

With a lot of spring in her step, Vicki Morrison, a retiree for a whopping four months, calls for us - in her continued work for World Peace through Contra dance.

The Smoky Hollow String Band is Lindsey Smith on fiddle, Roger Eudy on guitar, and John Flynn on banjo. Their music inspired by "the mountains of North Carolina, the hollers of Missouri and the flatlands of Florida" - places they once called home.

Contra dance from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. New dancers, and those wishing to review their dance moves or help others to do so, please attend at a Contra lesson from 6:30-7:00 pm. And, before that is our social waltz at 5:45-6:30 pm. All for one low admission. Dancers 25 and under pay only $5, otherwise $10 regular admission.

No partner or experience is necessary. The dance is at the Thelma Boltin Center, 516 NE 2nd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601. Snacks at the break are provided by dancers. If you snack, bring one to share and a water bottle to help our planet. A babysitter is available at no extra charge; see our FAQ page for details. Parking is in the lot across the street and in marked spaces on adjacent streets
