Sunday Dec 7, 4-7 pm: Contraforce Tour with Emily Abel - Rocking Contra

Contraforce Tour with Emily Abel

Rocking Contra into the 22nd Century and beyond, Contraforce merges music we know and love with psychedelia, surf rock, and metal to expand your mind and stretch your dance mojo. Embrace the future, throw open your perceptions and dare yourself to swim in the constancy of change.

Keeping faith at the mike, Emily Abel, a bicyclist and avid volunteer from Winston-Salem, NC, "is very excited to call a dance for YOU!"

Playing for us are: Jimi "two nails " Peirano on guitar and Joey Dorwart on drums and sax, both of Contraforce. Joining them is Gretchen Caverly, of Celador, on fiddle, who started violin at age 7. It is Gretchen's Florida debut and also her final East Coast performance before she moves to Oregon!

Dancers 25 and under pay only $5.00 admission! $10.00 otherwise. Included is our social waltz before the dance - 2:45-3:30 pm. No partner necessary.

New dancers, and those wishing to review their dance moves or help others to do so, please attend the free lessons 30 minutes before the dance. Come at 2:45 to waltz, glide into the contra lesson and then experience a "hurricane of wild, energetic, kick-in-the-mouth contra music that will leave you gasping for breath and begging for more."

If you snack, bring one to share and a water bottle to save the planet. A babysitter is available. Held at the Thelma Boltin Center 516 NE 2nd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601.
