The Gadabouts are dropping in for an evening of "percussive, foot-tappin', yes ma'am, shake your booty good time" Contra Dancing! Get your fix of old time music gone amok interspersed with zesty and beautiful cajun waltzes.
Calling for the gadabouts is Stan Prince, whose believes that "dancers are there to dance to the music and not to listen to the caller once they’ve learned the dance". He has been calling for ten years and dancing a whole lot longer.
The Gadabouts are: David Massey - piano, fiddle, vocals, John McEwen - percussion, bass, tenor guitar, Marietta Massey - banjo, percussion, Bill Paine - guitar, tenor guitar, mandolin, Kathie Aagard - fiddle.
Admission is $8/$5 students. Saturday 8-11 pm, at the Thelma Boltin Center 516 NE 2nd Ave, Gainesville,
FL 32601. Beginners' lesson at 7:30.
If you snack, bring one to share and a water bottle to save the planet. A babysitter is available.
