Sunday, December 29th, 2019, is the GODS Advanced Dance at the Thelma Boltin Center from 4-7 pm. The band is Wind That Shakes the Barley and the caller is Joe DePaolo.
Wind That Shakes The Barley is:
• Bill Dudley – guitar
• Kathie Aagaard – fiddle
• Sarah Mitchell – flute, hammered dulcimer, penny whistle, percussion
This dance is aimed at dancers who have attended at least three prior dances. There will be no beginner workshop, and the calling will not be catered to beginners.
Advanced contra dances are an opportunity for dancers to be challenged & to enhance their dance skills. Teaching of basic figures, & walkthroughs, might be limited. There could be some no-walkthrough dances.
Schedule:
02:30 – 03:30 pm — Open waltz to live music with Stay Tuned waltz band
03:30 – 04:00 pm — Soundcheck
04:00 – 07:00 pm — Contra dance with Joe Depaolo & Wind That Shakes the Barley
Suggested Donation:
$10 (ages 26+)
$5 (ages 16-25)
Dancers ages 15 & under get in FREE when accompanied by an adult.
No partner is necessary. No special dress is required. Wear comfortable, casual attire & soft-soled shoes.
Snacks at the break are provided by dancers. If you snack, bring one to share & a water bottle to help our planet.
Parking is in the lot across the street & in marked spaces on adjacent streets.
