SeptembARRRRR 21st be the day n’ th’ hour to come to th’ dance dressed like a scurvy pirate! We gunna kick up our heels ’n make merry like the swashbucklers we be! ’Tis a tradition!

International Talk Like A Pirate Day is September 19. Dressing like a scurvy pirate at the dance is optional.

How to celebrate Talk Like A Pirate Day

Well mate, celebrating talk like a pirate day be as easy as a day in the tropic, you simply need to turn up your piratical vernacular, pour a few fruity drinks with umbrellas in them, and gather with friends to celebrate International Talk Like A Pirate Day!

The Wind That Shakes The Barley is back for another engagement at our annual Talk Like A Pirate dance with caller Tom Greene. So get ready to kick up your heels Saturday, Sept 21st, 2019 from 6:45-10 pm.

Wind That Shakes The Barley is:
• Bill Dudley – guitar
• Kathie Aagaard – fiddle
• Sarah Mitchell – flute, hammered dulcimer, penny whistle, percussion.

Schedule:
• 05:15 pm — Doors open
• 05:30 – 6:15 pm — Open waltz (waltz lesson for beginners) – no partner necessary (Live music: Stay Tuned)
• 06:15 pm – 0:645 pm — Band sound check
• 06:45 pm – 07:00 pm — Contra workshop for beginners (New contra dancers, & those wishing to review their dance moves or help others to do so, please attend this pre-dance contra lesson.)
• 07:00 – 10:00 pm — Contra Dance

NOTE: The GODS annual general membership meeting will be held during the break at the September 21st dance at which time the slate for the 2019-20 Board will be presented by the Selection Committee.

Suggested Donation:
$10 (ages 26+)
$5 (ages 16-25)

Dancers ages 15 & under get in FREE when accompanied by an adult.
• No partner or experience is necessary. Contra dances are taught, walked through, & called.
• No special dress is required. Wear comfortable, casual attire & soft-soled shoes.
• Snacks at the break are provided by dancers. If you snack, bring one to share & a water bottle to help our planet.
• Parking is in the lot across the street & in marked spaces on adjacent streets.
