Budding trees and fresh breezes harken seasonal change. Change in contra bands is more subtle - The Rode Skollers, formerly known as the Road Scholars - will do their best to live up to their new image this Sunday.
Anchoring us in this sea of change, is our caller Stan Prince. Fresh from co-hosting the 20th annual Snow Ball, Stan brings us his longtime love of the dance, some old favorites and perhaps a new gem.
Playing mandolin will be Bill Paine, Marion Lasley on guitar, Mike Stapleton on banjo and fiddle and Lloyd Baldwin on fiddle and banjo.
Dancers 25 and under pay only $5 admission! $10 otherwise at the Thelma Boltin Center 516 NE 2nd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601. Included is our social waltz before the dance - 2:45-3:30 pm. No partner or experience necessary.
New dancers, and those wishing to review their dance moves or help others to do so, please attend the free lessons 30 minutes before the dance. Come at 2:45 to waltz, join the lesson and dance away another Sunday afternoon! Contra is 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
If you snack, bring one to share and a water bottle to save the planet. Parking is in the lot across the street and in marked spaces on adjacent streets
