SeptembARRRRR 16th be the day n’ th’ hour to come to th’ dance dressed like a scurvy pirate! We gunna kick up our heels ’n make merry like the swashbucklers we be! ’Tis a tradition!

International Talk Like A Pirate Day is September 19. Dressing like a scurvy pirate at the dance is optional.

Band: Sam & Eden (Eden MacAdam-Somer & Sam Bartlett)
Caller: Angela DeCarlis

  • At home in the worlds of both classical and popular music, Eden MacAdam-Somer is one of the most exciting and versatile young violinists and singers performing today. She has been a featured soloist with symphony and chamber orchestras, jazz and swing bands, bluegrass, DAWG and American folk groups. Eden is also well-versed in the music of other cultures, including Irish music, Eastern-European music, and European music from the Medieval and Renaissance periods.
  • Mandolinist Sam Bartlett has been playing music since he was 9, beginning with ill-fated adventures with the jaw harp and drumsticks, and finally settling into the mandolin, tenor banjo, and still, indeed, the jaw harp. He plays with Notorious and the Monks, and occasionally with other contra dance bands around the country.
  • Caller Angela DeCarlis writes, "Because I am an artist with a passion for teaching, I approach dance instruction with kindness, creativity, and ingenuity. Because I am a jazz singer, I love to incorporate musical tonality into my vocals while at the mic, resulting in a calling style immediately recognizable and lovable to dancers everywhere."
